2002 Topps Heritage baseball cards

This beautiful baseball card set is modeled after the much loved 1953 Topps set. In 1953, Topps chose to use painted portraits to make their cards for that year true works of art. Topps Heritage followed suit and gave their 2002 cards an artistic look.

Also similar to the original 1953 set, the Topps Heritage design is highlighted by a nice color team logo on the front of each card, along with a red or black box in which the players name, position and team are displayed. The box is either red for American League teams, or black for National League teams.

Each base card has a trivia question on the back, along with the players facsimile signature, another resemblance to the original 1953 Topps counterpart.

Short Prints

Cards #364-446 are all short printed, along with the cards I've listed below. Some of the 2002 topps Heritage cards were found with both a "daytime" background or a "night background". The night backgrounds are the SP's.

Chrome

Again, Topps included a beautiful "Chrome" set that parallels some of the regular issue cards, but this year the Chrome set only consists of 100 different baseball cards. The print run for each 2002 Topps Heritage Chrome card is only 553, and each card is serial #'d.

"Real One" Autographed Baseball Cards

2002 Topps Heritage PHIL RIZZUTO Autograph

The checklist this year consists of 28 cards, mostly retired stars mixed in with a few of the stars from 2002. Again this year, Topps had the players sing the "Real One" autographs in both blue and red ink, with the red ink signatures being the more rare of the two, and each card is serial #'d to 53.

"Classic Renditions" Autographs

These were VERY tough to pull from packs, the odds being 1 in 21,474 packs that you would find an Autographed "Classic Renditions" card from 2002 Topps Heritage. Each card is a limited edition and serial numbered 25.
